The New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association released its Annual Report in the fall of 2020. The 16-page report is an easy read that offers an overview of the good work done by NYTHA in a year that posed extraordinary challenges; from benevolence for the backstretch community to aftercare for the horses to advocacy for horsemen in Albany and Washington, D.C. It includes a snapshot of the organization’s financial statement, and stories of workers and horses we have helped.
“The challenges we faced the past 12 months have been unprecedented,” NYTHA President Joe Appelbaum said. “This report will only scratch the surface in describing NYTHA’s response, but we should all be proud of the organization’s staff and their performance in the face of Covid-19 and a significant reduction in revenue. The report also showcases our ongoing programs supporting the backstretch workers, trainers, owners, and the equine athletes that participate at NYRA tracks.”
