NY Thoroughbred Horseman's Association

The New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association is committed to representing the interests of owners and trainers at the New York Racing Association tracks. NYTHA recognizes that its constituents are the lifeblood of the racing industry in New York and focuses its efforts on doing what is best for New York horsemen and women.

Credentials & Licenses

Owners and Trainers: Badges/Credentials/Licenses

Owners and trainers must be licensed by the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC). They must also have a current badge issued by NYRA in order to have backstretch and stable area privileges.

NYSGC Information

  • NYSGC licenses typically expire on one’s birthday, and can be renewed for one, two, or three-year periods. For the licensing database and renewal forms, please visit https://gaming.ny.gov/licensing

The Aqueduct office of the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC) is open Wed – Sun, 8:00am – 4:00pm. That office can be reached at 917-599-9109 if you have any questions.There is currently no upstate office open for renewals. Mailing information is available HERE.

Credentials/Licensing – Fall 2025
NYRA has two ID offices downstate, at Aqueduct and Belmont.

Aqueduct Hours:Thurs, Fri, Sat: 10:00am – 4:00pm

Belmont Hours:

Wed & Sun: 9:00am – 4:30pm

Owners and trainers seeking to renew their badges via post can email Miriam Reyes-Molina (mreyes-molina@nyrainc.com) with a copy of their current badge and the address to which it should be mailed.

BELMONT

  • Main Track – Closed
  • Training Track – 5:30-10:30 (Breaks 7:15 & 9:00)
  • Pony Track – 5:30-10:30
  • Jogging Barns – Barn 12 Closed; Barn 30 – 5:30-10:30
  • Gate Schooling
    • Training Track – Wed-Mon – 6:30-9:45

SARATOGA

  • Main – Closed
  • Oklahoma – 6:30-11:00 (Breaks 7:30 & 9:15)
  • Clare Court – 6:30-10:30, closes after training Sun 10/5

  • Closed indefinitely

Pony Track:

  • Open daily, 5:30 – 10:30 am

Training Track:

  • Open daily, 5:30 – 10:30 am

  • Gate Schooling
    • Currently 6:30 – 9:45 am (Wed – Sun)
