The NYTHA PAC is the Political Action Committee of the New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (NYTHA). NYTHA utilizes PAC funds to advocate on concerns big and small that impact New York’s horsemen. At the top of that agenda is safeguarding VLT revenue, which has spurred significant growth for the racing industry in New York, creating jobs and increasing revenue for the state while maintaining a purse structure that makes racing more economically viable for owners. Other issues of importance include protection of racing dates; ensuring that horsemen share in all gaming revenue; racetrack operations and capital improvements; and all other matters important to the future of horse racing in New York.
NYTHA PAC gives strategic bi-partisan support to state legislators who:
- Represent districts that include our racetracks and Thoroughbred breeding farms
- Serve on the Committee on Racing, Wagering and Gaming in the Senate and the Committee on Racing and Wagering in the Assembly
- Are established leaders in the Senate and Assembly
- Are emerging leaders and freshmen legislators that we can educate about our industry and our issues
NYTHA PAC was created to support state elected officials who are interested in issues that affect the Thoroughbred industry in New York. As a NYTHA member, you can choose to participate in the PAC or decline. The NYTHA will not favor or disfavor members according to donations. Suggested contribution amounts are merely a suggestion. Members should feel free to contribute up to the legal maximum per year or less than the suggested contribution, or not at all.
